Within Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Innovative Medicine Supply Chain we are recruiting a Quality Control (QC) NPI Manager (M/F/X) as member of our Quality team overseeing Synthetics Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Drug Product (DP) Intermediates based in Geel Belgium.
J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Geel serves as Centre of Excellence for the development and manufacturing of Synthetics API and DP used in treatments that improve the health and lifestyle of people worldwide. The Supply Chain Quality (SCQ) team supports the Geel site in its mission as Launch & Grow site and is responsible for the quality oversight and final release of Synthetics API and DP guaranteeing reliable supplies in compliance with applicable regulations.
As QC NPI Manager reporting to the Head QC Geel you lead the Quality Control New Product Introduction (QC NPI) organization at the Geel site. You are responsible for a team of NPI analysts and analytical integrators supporting the transfer optimization and co-validation of analytical methods for new products while partnering closely with R&D and commercial Supply Chain to enable the successful commercialization of Synthetics APIs and Drug Product Intermediates.
In this role you provide both people leadership and scientific leadership guiding the team towards business objectives fostering individual development and continuously strengthening the capabilities and performance of the QC NPI organization. You act as a catalyst for innovation collaboration and scientific excellence ensuring the successful introduction of innovative medicines at the Geel site.
Job Description:
The QC NPI Lead reporting to the Head QC Geel acts as a people leader.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead a team of analytical experts (NPI analysts and analytical integrators) by supporting coaching and developing team members in reaching quality business and personal objectives.
Define and implement analytical strategies laboratory standards and processes to support successful new product introductions.
Champion analytical innovation in collaboration with R&D influencing them to meet our operational requirements for best-in-class methods and technologies.
Partner with Quality Supply Chain and R&D to support NPI governance risk-based decision-making and operational readiness.
Represent QC in NPI reviews scientific forums and stage-gate meetings providing technical expertise and leadership.
Establish partnership and engagement with QC Operations (IPC and release labs) to ensure alignment of planning workflows instrument utilization and material supply by clear and proactive communication.
Ensure effective resource planning and the availability of materials instruments and new technologies to meet business priorities.
Ensure compliant execution of QC NPI activities including GMP documentation quality records data integrity and regulatory requirements.
Provide analytical expertise for investigations root-cause analysis and CAPA development.
Promote Environmental Health Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) excellence and ensure compliance with company standards.
Remain current in knowledge and skills towards analytical technologies and industry trends.
Ensure inspection readiness and act as spokesperson during audits and inspections.
Job Qualifications:
Masters degree in Chemistry Pharmaceutical Sciences Engineering or a related scientific field (PhD preferred).
Minimum 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry within Quality Manufacturing Development or a related function.
Proven people leader with experience coaching and developing teams in R&D or Quality.
In-depth knowledge of analytical techniques laboratory operations and GMP-regulated environments.
Demonstrated ability to drive scientific innovation and translate complex concepts into practical business solutions.
Strong stakeholder management communication and influencing skills across functions and organizational levels.
Solid understanding of cGMP ICH guidelines risk management and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound risk-based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Fluent in Dutch and English.
