Senior Underwriter

At TAL our Individual Life team helps protect the choices options and freedoms that matter most to Australians. As a Senior Underwriter youll play a key role in balancing customer outcomes with sound risk management applying your expertise to support TALs underwriting philosophy and long-term profitability. Working closely with internal teams financial advisers reinsurers and health specialists youll assess risk make informed underwriting decisions and contribute to delivering exceptional customer and adviser experiences across our Retail Underwriting business.

In this role you will:

• Assess life insurance applications and deliver quality underwriting decisions that balance customer needs and risk outcomes.
• Manage underwriting workloads efficiently to achieve service standards turnaround times and productivity targets.
• Resolve adviser enquiries escalations and complaints to deliver positive customer and partner experiences.
• Build strong relationships with advisers customers and stakeholders to support effective decision-making and service delivery.
• Apply sound commercial judgement to maintain a profitable and sustainable risk portfolio.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes enhance efficiency and strengthen customer outcomes.

Qualifications :

• Solid life insurance underwriting experience with the ability to assess medical financial and occupational risk confidently.
• Strong knowledge of the life insurance industry including current regulations standards and emerging practices.
• Sound judgement and attention to detail to make accurate balanced decisions and manage risk effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work collaboratively with advisers customers and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within service standards.
• Self-motivated and adaptable approach with the ability to work independently embrace change and continuously develop expertise.
