Senior Financial Accountant

We are recruiting on behalf of a prominent institution for a technically strong Senior Financial Accountant to support its Financial Reporting and Compliance team through a critical six-month period.

This role will suit an experienced financial reporting professional who is confident managing month-end close statutory reporting audit requirements and complex financial compliance matters within a large organisation.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Compliance this senior position will coordinate and participate in monthly close consolidated financial reporting annual financial statement preparation and statutory audit activity.

You will help maintain the integrity of the general ledger provide technical accounting advice and support broader financial compliance activities across fixed assets taxation financial accounting and subsidiary reporting.

The assignment will also provide the opportunity to strengthen internal controls improve reporting processes and contribute to the continued development of the organisations financial reporting framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate monthly financial close and review processes.
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and statutory reports.
Support the annual financial statement and external audit process.
Maintain the accuracy control and integrity of the general ledger.
Provide technical advice on Australian Accounting Standards and financial reporting requirements.
Liaise with internal stakeholders external auditors and governance groups.
Support financial accounting fixed asset taxation and compliance activities.
Review and improve financial controls policies procedures and reporting processes.
Ensure subsidiary general ledgers are accurately recorded within the financial system.
Contribute to continuous improvement across financial reporting systems and methodologies.

Short but Sweet:

We are seeking a technically capable finance professional with:

Full membership of a recognised accounting body.
Strong statutory and consolidated financial reporting experience.
Demonstrated external audit experience either within professional services or as an audit coordinator in industry.
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and audit requirements.
Experience working within a large complex or highly regulated organisation.
Strong month-end general ledger and financial control capability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently manage competing deadlines and deliver accurate work.
Experience across multiple entities subsidiaries or funding arrangements will be highly regarded.
