About the role

As Principal Systems Integration Verification and Validation Engineer you will define and deliver an automation-focused IV&V strategy across Cochlears Smart Implant Systems portfolio and wider R&D programs.

This is a senior individual contributor role with strong technical influence. You will guide IV&V strategy improve test automation support complex systems integration and help reduce risk earlier in the product development lifecycle.

Working with Systems Engineering Systems V&V product teams and R&D stakeholders you will provide expert guidance on integration verification and validation for complex implant and sound processor systems.

You will play a key role in strengthening IV&V capability improving efficiency and supporting the delivery of high-quality Cochlear products.

What youll do

Lead IV&V strategy and automation

  • Define and deliver automation-focused IV&V strategies plans and protocols across Smart Implant Systems and broader R&D programs.

  • Improve test efficiency repeatability coverage and early defect detection through automation.

  • Communicate IV&V progress risks and coverage clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Provide technical leadership

  • Act as a technical authority for IV&V across implant and sound processor systems.

  • Lead the resolution of complex novel or high-risk verification and validation challenges.

  • Influence system and platform architecture by providing clear IV&V input on test coverage trade-offs and long-term planning.

Improve processes tools and ways of working

  • Improve IV&V processes practices tools and ways of working.

  • Partner with project managers delivery managers systems engineers V&V engineers and technical leaders to support effective execution.

  • Identify bottlenecks and lead improvements that strengthen quality efficiency and delivery confidence.

Support product family engineering and scalable test strategy

  • Define IV&V approaches that support reference systems reusable components product families and variants.

  • Drive robust test strategies across components platforms and product verticals.

  • Promote reuse consistency and scalable IV&V practices across programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner across Systems Engineering Systems V&V product component project and R&D teams.

  • Align stakeholders on IV&V risks priorities and decisions.

  • Mentor engineers and help build IV&V capability across teams.

About you

You are a senior systems verification and validation engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems influencing strategy and improving how teams deliver high-quality products.

To be successful you will bring:

  • A degree in Engineering or Science ideally in Electrical Software Mechanical Biomedical or Systems Engineering.

  • Strong experience in systems engineering integration verification validation and product development.

  • Experience defining and delivering IV&V strategies plans protocols and test coverage for complex systems.

  • Demonstrated success improving test automation efficiency quality and delivery confidence.

  • Strong technical judgement problem-solving skills and confidence working through ambiguity.

  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.

What will help you stand out

You will stand out if you bring experience in verification and validation of firmware-controlled electro-mechanical systems medical devices or another highly regulated industry. Experience with automation-focused test strategies Product Family Engineering reusable test approaches and continuous improvement will also be highly regarded.
