Payroll Officer

About the role:

As our Payroll Officer youll be responsible for the end-to-end processing of New Zealand payroll across our dynamic retail business. Youll work closely with stores managers and internal stakeholders to ensure payroll is delivered accurately and efficiently every pay cycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing payroll in line with New Zealand legislative requirements and company policies

• Setting up new employees and maintaining payroll and time & attendance records

• Processing employment changes salary increases terminations and back pays

• Managing payroll enquiries and providing outstanding support to employees and leaders

• Preparing payroll reporting and supporting month-end activities reconciliations and payroll journals

• Assisting with payroll audits and compliance requirements

• Maintaining payroll documentation and process guides

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements

• Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business

About you:

Youll be a detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys working in a high-volume environment and takes ownership of delivering accurate outcomes.

To succeed in this role youll have:

• 2-3 years payroll experience ideally with New Zealand payroll exposure

• End-to-end payroll processing experience within a medium to large organisation

• Strong understanding of payroll legislation taxation leave entitlements and statutory obligations

• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy

• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence analysing payroll data

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• The ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• A proactive solutions-focused approach

Highly regarded:

• Retail payroll experience

• Dayforce Payroll experience

• Experience using UKG or other Time & Attendance systems
