About the Opportunity
Provide expert leadership in financial compliance assurance and governance ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and University requirements. Lead the Financial Assurance Framework oversee financial risk management and internal controls and drive continuous improvement to support accurate reporting and sound financial management.
Partner with stakeholders to develop financial policies frameworks and guidance that safeguard University resources. Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and general ledger provide expert accounting advice and lead a high-performing team to deliver financial assurance outcomes that enable informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve Griffith Universitys Financial Assurance Framework ensuring effective financial controls and compliance with legislative regulatory and governance requirements.
- Develop implement and review financial policies procedures and guidelines that support best-practice financial management and statutory reporting obligations.
- Manage the design and delivery of financial assurance frameworks and compliance initiatives providing confidence in the effectiveness of internal financial controls.
- Provide expert advice on financial management taxation and compliance matters and maintain the Financial Management Practice Manual.
- Monitor and review control assurance activities driving investigation resolution and continuous improvement where required.
- Partner with internal and external auditors regulators and key stakeholders on financial systems controls compliance and reporting matters.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and use exceptional communication and influencing skills to support organisational outcomes.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
About you
- The occupant of this position will hold relevant qualifications or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Be fully qualified in a recognised accountancy profession (CA or CPA) with a minimum of five years relevant experience.

This is a full time continuing opportunity primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan) campus. As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith Universitys sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul Yuggera Jagera Turrbal Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary
HEW 10 - $147057.74 17% superannuation. Full package - $172057.55.
