Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Longwall Superintendent to join the leadership team at Moranbah North Mine.

This senior operational role is responsible for safely leading the longwall function and delivering consistent production performance. You will coordinate people equipment and operational priorities while working closely with maintenance engineering and technical services teams.

This is an opportunity for an experienced underground coal mining leader to influence the safety reliability and performance of a major longwall operation.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide visible safety leadership across all longwall activities
  • Lead longwall production teams to achieve safety production and operational objectives
  • Coordinate daily and weekly priorities across production maintenance and technical functions
  • Monitor longwall performance and respond effectively to changing conditions risks and production constraints
  • Ensure operations comply with legislative requirements site standards and the Safety and Health Management System
  • Lead the application and review of operational controls risk assessments and TARPs
  • Support longwall planning panel readiness and safe production activities
  • Review production performance equipment availability and shift reporting
  • Work closely with the Underground Mine Manager operations leaders engineering and technical services teams
  • Build leadership capability through coaching clear expectations and constructive feedback
  • Drive continuous improvement across safety productivity reliability and work practices

Qualifications :

You are an experienced underground coal mining leader with strong longwall production knowledge and a practical visible leadership style.

You will also bring:

  • Extensive operational leadership experience within underground coal mining
  • Strong experience in longwall production and second workings
  • Demonstrated experience leading large operational teams
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and underground safety systems
  • First class miners or deputy ticket will be highly regarded but not essential
  • Experience managing operational risk TARPs and changing mining conditions
  • Sound planning decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work effectively across production maintenance engineering and technical teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
  • A genuine commitment to safety accountability and workforce engagement
  • Relevant underground coal mining qualifications and competencies
  • A current Australian drivers licence

Relevant statutory competencies and qualifications required for the position will be considered as part of the selection process.
