Job Summary

Our client based in Epping Cape Town is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quality Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will have a relevant Quality qualification a National Diploma in Food Technology or BSc Degree in Food Science and 12 years experience in a Quality Manager role. Applicants must be fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English have their own reliable transport and be willing and able to work night shifts when required. REQUIREMENTS:
  • Relevant Quality Management qualification or similar qualification.
  • National Diploma in Food Technology or BSc Degree in Food Science.
  • Minimum 12 years experience in a Quality Manager role.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Must be willing and able to work night shifts when required.

DUTIES:

Food Safety and Food Safety Systems:
  • Ensure that the facility complies at all times with the requirements of the relevant audit standards.
  • Take responsibility for quality and legislative compliance for all products manufactured within the facility.
  • Manage all aspects of the laboratory and product testing including the management of staff and resources.
  • Raise non-conformances both internal and relating to customer complaints to address any deviations from the system or issues relating to products manufactured that may be unsafe for consumption.
  • Investigate root causes and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Facilitate customer visits and factory tours.
  • Provide technical Food Quality support to representatives when required.

Product Quality:
  • Ensure that all products manufactured are of consistent and reliable quality in accordance with product specifications and customer expectations.
  • Ensure that the functionality of all finished products is maintained according to their intended use including preservative levels antioxidant levels curing salt levels and product color.
  • Ensure that all procedures within the quality laboratory are followed to verify that products comply with specifications including taste tests SO₂ testing nitrite testing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) etc.
  • Investigate quality issues as they arise and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure that all raw materials conform to the required specifications and meet production and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all external testing requirements are completed and fulfilled.

Human Resources:
  • Actively manage all staff and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Manage disciplinary procedures in accordance with the companys disciplinary code.
  • Manage and take responsibility for all laboratory staff.

Other:
  • Communicate with customers and other customers within the Company Group to resolve and problem-solve quality-related issues.
  • Personally handle and manage all customer complaints.
  • Oversee operational projects through to successful handover.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and other duties as required by operational needs.

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 16:30
