The Role

Were looking for an experienced and technically capable Infrastructure Lead to join our Digital & Technology team on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager youll lead the infrastructure system administration team in the delivery support configuration and continuous improvement of TasWaters on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability security and performance of critical technology platforms while driving standardisation automation and operational excellence across the environment.

Leading a team of infrastructure professionals youll provide technical leadership across Azure VMware server storage and backup platforms while supporting the ongoing evolution of TasWaters technology landscape.

In this role you will:

• Lead the day-to-day operation support and maintenance of TasWaters infrastructure platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
  
• Drive service reliability performance resilience and operational maturity through effective infrastructure management practices.
  
• Lead the design configuration and optimisation of infrastructure platforms across Azure and on-premises environments.
  
• Develop and maintain standard platform patterns configuration baselines and supporting documentation.
  
• Provide technical leadership across VMware Azure storage backup and infrastructure services
  
• Drive automation observability and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
  
• Lead root cause analysis problem resolution and continual service improvement activities.
  
• Coach mentor and develop team members while fostering a positive high-performing team culture.
  
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders vendors and technology partners.

Were seeking a collaborative technology leader who combines strong infrastructure expertise with a passion for continuous improvement and service excellence.

To thrive in this role youll bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure operations and engineering within a large complex or regulated environment.
  
• Strong technical knowledge across Azure VMware servers storage backup and recovery platforms.
  
• Experience implementing modern infrastructure practices including automation observability configuration management and platform standardisation.
  
• Proven ability to lead mentor and develop technical teams.
  
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a customer-focused approach.
  
• Excellent communication problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  
• The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on service reliability and continuous improvement.
  

Highly regarded:

• Qualifications in Information Technology Infrastructure Engineering or a related discipline.
  
• Azure VMware IT Service Management automation or DevOps certifications.
  
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code Azure Monitor Log Analytics enterprise monitoring platforms or automation tooling.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart Launceston or Devonport and attracts a salary of $135072 - $150080 (inclusive of superannuation).

Please note that this role may occasionally require after-hours work or participation in an on-call roster to support business and operational requirements.
