About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded HR Business Partner to join Programmeds Human Resources team in a part-time capacity.
Supporting our Energy & Resources division this role will be dedicated to a major managed maintenance contract at AGL Loy Yang where Programmed delivers maintenance services supporting critical mine and power generation infrastructure. Operating within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment our teams work collaboratively with AGL to ensure the safe reliable and efficient operation of one of Australias largest power generation assets.
As an embedded HR Business Partner you will work closely with Contract Managers Superintendents Supervisors employees workforce representatives and AGL stakeholders to provide strategic and operational HR support. You will play a key role advising on Employee Relations Industrial Relations workforce planning organisational change performance management employee wellbeing and workplace investigations.
This is a highly visible role where you will act as a trusted advisor within a complex and unionised industrial environment. Balancing employee experience compliance obligations commercial outcomes and client expectations you will help leaders navigate people challenges and build a high-performing workforce.
Ideal candidates will be based in Melbournes south-eastern suburbs Gippsland Latrobe Valley or surrounding areas with the ability to regularly attend site and build strong relationships with local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with operational leaders to deliver practical HR solutions aligned to business objectives.
- Provide expert advice on Employee Relations Industrial Relations employment legislation and policy interpretation.
- Support leaders in managing performance conduct investigations grievances and workplace concerns.
- Assist with workforce planning organisational change consultation and workforce transition activities.
- Build strong relationships with employees workforce representatives unions and client stakeholders.
- Support the interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements Awards and employment legislation.
- Contribute to dispute resolution processes and consultation obligations within a unionised workforce.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders to strengthen capability and support effective people management.
- Analyse workforce trends and HR metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Drive compliance with legislative contractual and organisational requirements.
- Partner with the broader HR team to deliver people initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Foster a positive workplace culture focused on safety respect engagement and performance.
About You
You are a confident and pragmatic HR professional who thrives in operational environments and enjoys partnering with leaders to solve complex workforce challenges. You bring strong Employee Relations and Industrial Relations expertise balanced with a practical and commercially focused approach.
While experience within Energy & Resources mining power generation manufacturing utilities infrastructure or other industrial sectors would be highly regarded we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who can demonstrate strong business partnering capability and a passion for supporting operational workforces.
You will bring:
- Experience in a HR Business Partner Senior HR Advisor Employee Relations or similar HR role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation Industrial Relations frameworks and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting operational blue-collar industrial manufacturing energy mining or site-based workforces.
- Proven capability managing Employee Relations matters investigations performance management and workplace grievances.
- Experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements Awards and employment legislation.
- Strong stakeholder management communication coaching and influencing skills.
- The ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with leaders employees unions and client stakeholders.
- Experience supporting organisational change workforce planning consultation or workforce transition activities.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Business Psychology or a related discipline OR equivalent professional experience.
