About the role
AEMO is recruiting a Group Manager - Systems Engineering a role which will help shape the future of Australias Energy System. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the most important engineering functions in Australias energy sector heading a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering team and working alongside industry leaders market participants governments regulators and technology providers turning complex power system challenges into practical operational solutions.
This position is available in multiple locations.
What you will be doing
- Performing technical analysis and simulations to assess future system needs identifying capability gaps developing operational solutions and procuring system services to close these gaps.
- Spearheading the engineering design and implementation of system changes to support operational transformation and future-state readiness.
- Providing technical leadership and project delivery for the integration and operational enablement of Distributed Energy Resources across the power system.
- Delivering advanced engineering analysis and insights to support operational performance system resilience and continuous improvement.
- Overseeing the technical assessment and operational readiness of new generator and load connections to ensure safe and compliant integration in collaborator with AEMOs Systems Design team.
What you will bring to the role
Were seeking an exceptional engineering leader with a deep understanding of power system operations strong commercial and stakeholder acumen and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. Youll bring extensive industry experience a strategic mindset and the ability to inspire teams while delivering outcomes that matter to Australias energy future.
You will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in power system/electrical engineering.
- Extensive experience across energy system operation and market design with deep power-system engineering expertise.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams delivering operational engineering changes in a complex regulated environment.
- Strong track record in DER technical integration and performance management.
- Stakeholder management experience with market participants networks OEMs market bodies and regulators.
