Group Leader

At the NSW Department of Education we educate and inspire lifelong learners from early childhood through schooling to vocational education and training.

  • Ongoing Full-Time Role
  • Location: Orange with potential opportunities across areas such as Tamworth and Dubbo
  • Salary $133348.00 up to $146945.00 p.a. plus employers contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

The role manages day-to-day operational and site-based issues including coordinating responses to school emergencies to ensure schools remain safe functional and operational. The role also oversees maintenance programs capital works projects school and community funded works as well as demountable management to deliver safe efficient and high-quality outcomes.

Youll lead a team of Senior Asset Services Officers providing clear direction building accountability and driving consistent performance. This is a highly visible role that requires close collaboration with schools contractors and internal teams to ensure issues are resolved quickly and planned works are delivered effectively.

About you

  • Well-developed understanding of construction methodology procedures as well as project management principles
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience
  • Understanding and experience in preparation of NSW Government Construction Contracts and procurement processes is desirable to be able to guide and lead a team of Senior Asset Services Officers in the delivery of our construction related maintenance and capital works programs
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Current NSW drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel across the assigned AMU area of Bathurst & the North Western NSW Region
  • Ability to work on site Orange office
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
