Garli Group is seeking a commercially sharp and proactive Cost Controller to join our team on the KTP Project. This is a pivotal role in our portfolio youll be the financial backbone of the project safeguarding margins enabling data-driven decision-making and building a culture of accountability across our project teams.
Youll work closely with our Project Manager Commercial Manager and broader finance and procurement functions as well as engaging with client commercial representatives and subcontractors. This role is integral to delivering financial integrity across the project lifecycle.
The role is FIFO working 8:6 Fixed Term
What youll be doing
Develop maintain and update project cost reports budgets and forecasts across the full project lifecycle
Monitor expenditure against approved budgets identifying variances and escalating risks proactively
Prepare accurate Cost to Complete (CTC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts with the Project Manager
Track daily labour and equipment costs to ensure real-time financial visibility
Manage subcontractor claims purchase order registers and invoice reconciliation processes
Maintain accurate cost data and project management systems
Develop and maintain cost control dashboards and reporting tools for varied stakeholder audiences
Support procurement activities including VMAs subcontractor spend tracking and plant/equipment hire agreements
Build effective relationships with client commercial representatives and attend joint cost review meetings
What youll bring essential
Minimum 5 years experience in cost control or project controls within construction mining or resources
Demonstrated track record in cost forecasting budget management and financial reporting on major projects
Strong understanding of EVM project cost control principles and Australian construction commercial practices
Knowledge of contract types including lump sum schedule of rates and cost-reimbursable
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for cost modelling and reporting
Experience with ERP or project management systems
Strong communication skills able to translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Commerce Engineering or a related discipline
Valid drivers licence
Construction Card
Highly regarded
Experience on remote or multi-site civil construction projects
Prior involvement in Aboriginal business engagement or Indigenous procurement programs
