There are plenty of content roles where you inherit the strategy the systems the calendar and the production team.

This isnt one of them.

Picture yourself as the Content Marketing Manager working in a high-growth B2B software business that is rebuilding its marketing function with new investment new capability new systems and a very clear mandate to make marketing more commercially accountable.

And when I say content I dont mean someone whose world revolves around posting on LinkedIn and reporting back on engagement.

This role is much broader and much more commercial.

Youll own the content calendar customer stories thought leadership sales collateral and product messaging but youll also get hands-on with HubSpot nurture journeys workflows lead scoring and the funnel.

The role has been designed around a simple question:

How do we use genuinely good content to help move a complex B2B buyer towards a decision

That matters here because the sales cycle can be long often 12 to 24 months; and there are multiple stakeholders involved.

Buyers dont make quick decisions.

They look at what their peers are doing. They want proof. They want credibility. They want to understand why one solution is better than another.

So shallow lead-gen tactics arent going to cut it.

The business needs someone who understands how content actually influences pipeline.

The formal remit spans funnel-aligned content agency management commercial copywriting customer and product marketing along with hands-on HubSpot optimisation.

What Youll Actually be Doing

Youll work closely with the Head of Marketing and take ownership of a significant chunk of the marketing plan.

That will include building the content engine across LinkedIn email web and campaigns; creating case studies and customer advocacy; developing thought leadership; rebuilding sales decks one-pagers and battlecards; working with Product to sharpen messaging; and managing specialist agencies to get work delivered properly and on time.

Youll also be hands-on in HubSpot helping build and optimise forms workflows nurture journeys segmentation scoring and lifecycle activity.

Theres plenty to build.

That is either the best thing about this role or the reason it isnt for you.

There isnt a huge content library waiting for you. There isnt a mature marketing operations function underneath you. And there isnt a big internal production team doing all the execution.

What there is however is investment agency support strong leadership backing and the opportunity to genuinely shape how marketing works.

What Youll Bring

  • B2B marketing and content expertise in SaaS or technology within a start up or scale up environment.
  • You need to be a really good writer. Not I can review agency copy good.
  • You should be able to take a rough idea or strategic brief and turn it into sharp commercially useful content.
  • Youll also need genuine hands-on marketing automation experience. HubSpot would be ideal but strong experience with Marketo Pardot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud can work too.
  • Youll have marketed complex products with longer sales cycles and multiple decision-makers.
  • You naturally think about pipeline conversion and revenue contribution not just reach followers and engagement.
  • That commercial orientation is a core part of the brief.
  • Youll also need to be comfortable managing agencies working with a bit of ambiguity and using AI tools as part of your everyday workflow.
