UnitingCare Hospitals is seeking a Clinical Competency Design Lead to drive the design standardisation and implementation of clinical competency frameworks across our hospital network.

This fixed term role (6 months) role offers a unique opportunity to influence the capability of our workforce at scale working across The Wesley Hospital St Andrews War Memorial Hospital Buderim Private Hospital and St Stephens Hospital.

As the lead for competency design and development you will partner with educators clinical experts quality leaders and operational teams to develop sustainable evidence-based competency systems that strengthen workforce capability support accreditation requirements and improve clinical assurance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Education Manager you will:

  • Lead the review consolidation and standardisation of clinical competency frameworks across UnitingCare Hospitals.

  • Design contemporary competency assessment models aligned to clinical governance accreditation standards organisational policy and professional requirements.

  • Embed competencies within the Grow Learning Management System ensuring robust assessment evidence collection and tracking processes.

  • Partner with subject matter experts educators and quality teams to ensure competencies are clinically relevant practical and sustainable.

  • Drive organisation-wide adoption and implementation of competency frameworks across multiple hospital sites.

  • Monitor effectiveness through workforce capability data utilisation metrics compliance reporting and stakeholder feedback.

  • Act as a recognised subject matter expert in competency design assessment methodologies and workforce capability development.

This is a highly collaborative and influential role that will shape how clinical competence is assessed validated and maintained across our organisation.

About You

You are an experienced clinical educator or workforce capability professional who enjoys creating systems and frameworks that improve practice at scale.

You will bring:

Essential

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse.

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education and competency development.

  • Experience leading large-scale education capability or change initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of clinical governance accreditation standards and policy alignment.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple sites and disciplines.

  • Advanced communication consultation and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience analysing data and evaluating program outcomes.

  • Strong project coordination and implementation capability.

Highly Regarded

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or postgraduate qualifications in education leadership or a related field.

  • Experience implementing competency frameworks within Learning Management Systems particularly Grow.

  • Experience leading standardisation projects across healthcare organisations.

  • Formal project management experience.
