Project Info

ACCIONA operates Beverley Australias largest registered jack-up barge supporting construction of critical water infrastructure in Western Australia. The 59.6m x 32m vessel features a 400-tonne crane helideck and accommodation for 50 workers. Beverley is central to the offshore intake structure for major desalination projects.

About Opportunity

As Barge Master you will hold full accountability for the safe compliant and efficient operation of a non-self-propelled jack-up barge. You will implement the vessels Safety Management System coordinate marine interfaces with project teams and third parties and ensure crew equipment and emergency systems remain mission-ready. You will act as the primary vessel-based point of contact for marine matters with ACCIONA the client and service providers holding overriding authority under the SMS to make decisions necessary for the safety of life the vessel and the environment.

Key accountabilities for the position will be:

  • Hold ultimate responsibility for crew and vessel safety

  • Implement and maintain the vessels SMS and environmental policy

  • Approve risk assessments and enforce permit-to-work processes

  • Lead inductions drills and crew competency checks

  • Command mooring unmooring and safe port operations

  • Direct emergency response musters and lifesaving equipment

  • Maintain SMS records and report to shore management

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant highrisk work licences when required (e.g. rigging/dogging scaffolding electrical) under State/Territory WHS laws.
  • Jackup barge experience: 23 campaigns in Assistant Barge Master (or equivalent) roles on similar units.
  • Vessel SMS (RAVBEVSMS000) including Safe Operating Procedures (towing mooring jacking emergency response).
  • STCW Basic Safety Training: PSSR PST FPFF
  • GMDSS (A3); ECDIS endorsement (if fitted)
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Ability to obtain successful Fit for Work employment medical and National Crime Check
