About the Position

The AdvisorFinancial Analysis is a key role within the Regulatory Lodgementsand Advice team which supports amongst other tasks the financialanalysis function of the Registered Organisations Services Branch(the Branch).

Working withthe General Manager of the Fair Work Commission (the Commission)Branch staff and registered organisations the Advisor FinancialAnalysis provides accounting and auditing advice in relation to thefinancial reporting obligations specified in the Fair Work(Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (RO Act).

Duties

As a valuedmember of the Regulatory Lodgements and Advice team the duties ofthe Advisor Financial Analysis include but are not limitedto:

  • Providing advice under the guidance of the Director Regulatory Lodgements and Advice to external clients in relation to the record keeping and financial reporting obligations of registered organisations under the RO Act in particular regarding the requirements of and compliance by registered organisations with the Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Auditing Standards.
  • Assessing loans grants and donations statements auditor registration applications financial reports and associated documents officers and related party disclosure statements and annual returns lodged with the Commission by registered organisations to determine whether they meet legislative requirements.
  • Assisting with the preparation of materials to assist registered organisations in meeting their financial reporting obligations including preparing correspondence to registered organisations regarding compliance following the assessment of financial documents.
  • Assisting the General Manager and the Executive Director Registered Organisations Services Branch in conducting inquires and investigations regarding compliance by registered organisations with their financial reporting obligations. Working with the Director Regulatory Lodgements and Advice to provide advice and recommendations to the General Manager and the Executive Director regarding possible contraventions of the RO Act.
  • Building partnerships and working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to ensure high quality support and services are provided to the Branch and to registered organisations.
  • Providing advice and assisting staff within the Branch in relation to procurement activities and other purchasing requirements and engaging with relevant areas within the Commission on these matters as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
