Sr. Design Engineer / Principal Design Engineer – Mechanical

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
• Master’s Degree in Thermal Engineering Hydronics Energy HVAC or a related specialization or a PhD is preferred.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Mechanical MEP design and engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of recent experience with a leading MEP contracting company is mandatory.
• Strong experience in the design and engineering of major building projects preferably with complex and large-scale developments like Airport Five star hotels Highrise buildings (50 floors) stadiums etc
• Experience in Design and build jobs

Technical Expertise

• Extensive experience in the design of:
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing and drainage systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • Chilled water / hydronic systems
  • Ventilation and smoke management systems
  • Other mechanical building services systems

Engineering Calculations
The candidate shall have strong hands-on experience in preparing reviewing and validating mechanical engineering calculations including:

• HVAC cooling/heating load calculations using HAP or equivalent software
• Duct sizing and ESP (External Static Pressure) calculations
• Chilled water and hydronic system calculations
• Water flow demand calculations / Pump head and flow calculations
• Plumbing water supply and drainage calculations
• Fire protection hydraulic calculations
• Equipment selection and sizing calculations
• Pressure drop calculations
• Ventilation and fresh-air calculations (Eg. Carpark Staircase etc)
• Other mechanical engineering calculations required for building services systems

Design & Engineering Capability

• Strong knowledge of international standards and codes applicable to mechanical building services.
• Ability to independently develop and review complete mechanical system designs.
• Ability to prepare and review design calculations equipment schedules technical specifications design drawings and technical submissions.
• Strong coordination experience with architectural structural electrical and other MEP disciplines.
• Ability to identify design risks optimize systems and develop cost-effective and technically functional solutions.
• Strong understanding of constructability and practical site implementation of mechanical designs.
• Exposure to Value engineering/system design optimization
