Assistant Laundry Manager

To oversee and manage the daily operations of the hotel laundry and linen department ensuring efficient hygienic and cost-effective processing of all guest Heartist and hotel linen while maintaining the required quality and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the laundry and linen areas ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
• Supervise train and schedule laundry and linen team members according to operational requirements.
• Ensure all hotel linen uniforms guest laundry and other washable items are processed according to established standards.
• Monitor washing drying pressing folding and finishing processes to ensure consistent quality.
• Maintain proper par levels of bed linen towels uniforms and other hotel textiles.
• Conduct regular linen inventories and investigate discrepancies losses or excessive damage.
• Ensure proper handling storage distribution and collection of linen and uniforms.
• Monitor the condition of linen and uniforms and coordinate replacement of damaged or worn items.
• Ensure all laundry equipment is operated safely and efficiently and report maintenance requirements promptly.
• Coordinate with Engineering regarding preventive maintenance and repair of laundry equipment.
• Monitor the consumption of laundry chemicals detergents water electricity and other operational supplies.
• Control departmental costs and minimize unnecessary wastage while maintaining service quality.
• Ensure compliance with hotel hygiene health and safety fire safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain proper records of laundry production linen movement chemical consumption equipment issues and departmental inventories.
• Coordinate closely with Housekeeping Food & Beverage Front Office and other departments regarding linen and laundry requirements.
• Ensure guest laundry and special laundry requests are processed accurately and within the required turnaround time.
• Monitor external laundry services where applicable and verify service quality and invoices.
• Handle guest and departmental complaints related to laundry or linen and ensure appropriate corrective action.
• Conduct regular inspections of the laundry linen rooms equipment and storage areas.
• Ensure that chemicals and cleaning products are correctly labeled stored and handled in accordance with safety procedures.
• Implement and maintain proper infection-control and hygiene procedures within the laundry operation.
• Prepare duty rosters attendance records performance evaluations and other departmental documentation.
• Coach and develop team members to improve productivity quality and service standards.
• Ensure departmental policies and hotel standards are consistently followed.
• Participate in departmental meetings training sessions and hotel operational initiatives.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or management.

Qualifications :

• Diploma or degree in Hotel Management Hospitality or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 35 years of relevant laundry experience preferably within a hotel or large hospitality operation.
• Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a hotel laundry department is required.
• Good knowledge of commercial laundry operations linen management and laundry chemicals.
• Strong understanding of hygiene health and safety and chemical-handling procedures.
• Good leadership organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage a multicultural team and work effectively under operational pressure.
• Good communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic departmental reporting systems is preferred.
